APPLICATION PROCESSING SERVICES

The following administrative/application processing functions can be provided in addition to credentialing and/or recredentialing primary source verification services:

• Medilert-IRIS offers application mailing services at time of both credentialing and/or recredentialing. Applications are sent directly to a medical practitioner on behalf of a client organization. The client only needs to provide the name, address, telephone and fax number of each practitioner to whom an application packet should be sent. Follow-up correspondence is sent to all practitioners who do not respond within a specified timeframe.
• Upon receipt of a returned application, Medilert-IRIS staff carefully reviews the application for content and completeness. Practitioners who have omitted required application data are contacted by Medilert-IRIS staff via mail, phone, fax or preferably e-mail. Three attempts are made to obtain omitted or incomplete information. Daily or weekly electronic spreadsheets and reports are transmitted to the client organization, which documents and tracks the application process.
• Primary source verification begins when an application is deemed complete.
• Medilert-IRIS provides free tracking for purposes of recredentialing.  Recredentialing timelines are set by the client organization and Medilert-IRIS will provide a monthly list of practitioners to the client organization.  These lists are reviewed and edited by the client organization and returned to Medilert-IRIS for application generation and mailing.
• Original application packets and other documentation Medilert-IRIS collects during the application process are returned with the credentialing and/or recredentialing summary report.  Alternatively, the applications are available on the automated website credentials system.
